English breakfast tea is actually a combination 0f several kind of black teas. The tea has been developed in the late nineteen century by a Scottish tea master in Edinburgh.
It is made up of a blend of black teas from Nilgiri and Ceylon.
The blend often includes Keemun, a black Chinese tea with a fruity taste and a hint of pine.
Later it was marketed simply as ‘breakfast tea’ and tea for breakfast had become indoctrinated into the English life-style. It replaced the customary practice of drinking ale at breakfast.
The English breakfast tea goes well with the same foods that red wine does, and it is often used for brewing iced tea.
Tea shops in London, however changed the name of breakfast tea and marketed it as English Breakfast Tea’
